"My Neighbor Totoro" was a flop when it was released. It didn't become popular until Totoro toys were released!

But who are all those Totoros?

1. O-totoro

This Totoro is the biggest. His name literally means "Big totoro." He is the first of the woodland spirits that the sisters, Mei and Satsuki, meet in the film. Due to his size, he is able to protect the girls from harm.  He is also the Studio Ghibli mascot!

2. Chu-totoro

blue This Totoro's name means "medium-sized Totoro." He has the likable and agreeable middle-child nature.    This Totoro lives with his family in a shinboku, a sacred tree according to Shinto religion.

3. Chibi-totoro

4. Cat Bus

"Neko basu" is Japanese for "Cat Bus." This famous cat character is a bake neko. According to Japanese legend,  if a cat grows old enough it will get shape-shifting powers. Neko basu helps find Mei when she goes missing.

5. Soot sprite
