(ノ≧∀≦)ノ Arcade Culture ヾ(・д・ヾ)

prizeget1

"PRIZE GET!" is what you would yell when you snatch a prize from Japan's notorious Crane Games, also known as UFO Catchers. Japan's arcade culture is a thriving business today, as there are arcades found near most major train stations across the country.  Sega and Taito are a few of the big names but there are many other game centers, and many of them are open until midnight (for those gaming insomniacs XD)!

How To Say "Arcade" in Japanese
ゲームセンター      (Gē-mu-sen-tā) ゲーセン (Gē-sen) Literally translates to "Game Center", and is shortened to "Gē-sen" as slang. project-diva-club-sega-tokyo-japan Gē-sen's are not hard to miss and are often open to the outside at ground level.  On the main floor of most of these game centers/arcades are UFO catchers or claw machines where you can try your skill and luck at securing a prize. Other types of video games and entertainment are located in the many floors above. Music and Rhythm Games have seen a huge rise in popularity over the last few years, partially due to the massive gaming/anime music culture in Japan.

Other Popular Gē-sen Games
