“Ebi”, Japanese for “Shrimp”, is mainly found in Japan’s northernmost island, Hokkaido. Hokkaido has one of Japan’s most prominent fishing grounds for various species of shrimp, including deep-water shrimp and humpback shrimp (the shrimp used for sushi and shrimp tempura!). Shrimp is a common flavor in many Japanese snacks, for instance shrimp-flavored Doritos, Cheetos, and even chocolate-covered shrimp chips!

Chip Star Ebikoubashi flavor
Nabisco's Chip Star is one of the most popular potato chip brands in Japan. Koubashi means fragrant or savory, and Ebi means shrimp, so enjoy this Chip Star Savory Shrimp Flavored Chips!
Similar to American Pringles, Chip Star's thin, crispy potato chips are stacked on top of each other in tubes for convenience. Unlike Pringles, Chip Star comes in a lot of Japanese flavors such as Roasted Seaweed, Wasabi, and Shrimp! Chip Star also has seasonal items such as purple-colored sweet potato chips and pumpkin potato chips during the fall season.
Calbee Baked Shrimp Chips
Probably more well known internationally than Chip Star, Calbee has been in the snack game since 1949. Not only do they make shrimp chips, but they make tons of other snacks like potato chips, pea snacks, and even cereal! The company was also one of the sponsors for the anime, Tiger and Bunny.
